Homemade Turkey Broth
Thanksgiving recipes
Total Time: 4-8 hours
Yield: 6 cups
For 20 pound turkey
bones etc from turkey carcass (will last in frig for 5-7 days; if frozen will last 6 months)
water to cover an inch from top of carcass
2ish onions, cut in quarters
5ish carrot, halved
5ish celery, halved
4 bay leaves
Instructions
Put carcass in slow cooker on high for 4 hrs or low for 8 hours (check to make sure it has enough water – try not to take lid off)
Strain to get rid of bones, skin, etc. – put strainer on top of a bowl; throw away everything but broth
Freeze to use later or
Make turkey soup – add rotini, chopped carrots and celery
