Homemade Turkey Broth

Total Time: 4-8 hours
Yield: 6 cups

For 20 pound turkey

  • bones etc from turkey carcass (will last in frig for 5-7 days; if frozen will last 6 months)

  • water to cover an inch from top of carcass

  • 2ish onions, cut in quarters

  • 5ish carrot, halved

  • 5ish celery, halved

  • 4 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. Put carcass in slow cooker on high for 4 hrs or low for 8 hours (check to make sure it has enough water – try not to take lid off)

  2. Strain to get rid of bones, skin, etc. – put strainer on top of a bowl; throw away everything but broth

  3. Freeze to use later or

  4. Make turkey soup – add rotini, chopped carrots and celery
